Myocarditis
Myocarditis infection of the heart, with an inflammatory infiltrate, and damage to the heart muscle.
1) Signs and symptoms:
· Chest pain
· Congestive heart failure (leading to edema, breathlessness and hepatic congestion)
· Palpitations
· Fever
2) Diagnosis:
- ECG
- CRP
- Erythrocyte sedimentation rate
- Markers of myocardial damage
- biopsy
- MRI
3) Causes:
- Infections
- Toxins
- Immunologic Reactions
4) Treatment:
- digoxin
- ACE inhibitors
