This timepiece is housed in a stunning 43mm 750/1000 rose gold case with an integrated sapphire crystal that reveals the workings of the suspended movement. The domed sapphire crystal glass, treated with double anti-reflective coating, further enhances the watch's clarity and lightness, a true tribute to the elements embodied in the timepiece.

Following the “Eagle” watch crafted from carbon fiber CTP and the UR-230 “Polaris” watch showcasing mineral-like purity in white ceramic, the “Black Star” watch concludes the 230 series with a star-like depth, like a gravitational singularity, shimmering faintly in the shadows.

A Caliber Protected Like an Atomic Heart
The UR-230 “Black Star” stands out with its unique design. At its heart is the UR-7.30 movement, sealed within a titanium case resembling a mechanical safe.
Around this protected core component, URWERK designed a hybrid case incorporating the following elements:
- Laminated composite ceramic inner case,
- Black DLC titanium case back,
- A technically sophisticated, precise, and sharp aesthetic, favored by master watchmaker and brand co-founder Felix Baumgartner.
“Ceramic is hard, lustrous, and textured… yet extremely fragile,” he explains. “I didn’t want to abandon this material. So we had to find another way.”
URWERK developed a unique composite ceramic, composed of alternating layers of woven ceramic, carbon fiber, and glass fiber. After processing, this material exhibits a black texture, punctuated with shimmering points of light: a vibrant and dynamic black, as if light breathes beneath its surface.

In astrophysics, a "Black Star" refers to a star in a state of gravitational collapse, a critical state where light has almost disappeared, but not completely—suspended on the boundary between existence and nothingness.
The UR-230 "Black Star" embodies this duality: a rich and vibrant black that does not deny light, but rather reveals it by enveloping it in darkness.
Satellite Complexity: URWERK's Iconic Design
The UR-230 "Black Star" showcases URWERK's pure DNA through its displays:
Roaming Clock Hands + Retrograde 3D Hands
Three cube-shaped satellites, each carrying time, revolve around a central hub.
Each satellite traverses a 120° sector within 60 minutes.
A hollowed-out retrograde hand follows the passage of time minute by minute, then immediately returns to zero to greet the next satellite.
This is a unique mechanical choreography, somewhere between kinetic sculpture and pure technology.
Dual Turbines: Airflow Control
The UR-230 features a unique dual-turbine system, a true mechanical hallmark of URWERK:
The first turbine absorbs external shocks, improving the durability and lifespan of the movement.
The second turbine acts as an aerodynamic brake, regulating the load on the automatic winding rotor.
A control button on the back of the housing allows you to perform the following operations:
Adjust the winding intensity,
Limit the load,
or completely deactivate the rotor and switch to manual winding.
Two symmetrical indicators (located at 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock respectively) display these parameters in real time.
